Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Structural Designer for a site position in Pittsburgh, PA . This is a direct staff opportunity and there is some relocation assistance and per diem. Local candidates prefered.

Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship required

Duties and Responsibilities include :
  • Supports Civil and Structural discipline (undergrounds, earthworks, Geotech interface, foundation, buildings, steel/concrete structures etc)
  • Brownfield project scope, field verification and design
  • Construction walkdowns
  • Quality Assurance on ongoing projects
  • Code /spec assurance support to site
  • Support to small projects ran by maintenance teams
  • Set up and manage ongoing inspection program
  • Build up site civil/structural document database


Skills / Qualifications

  • 2-year degree in drafting and design or equal
  • Minimum 15 years' experience
  • Ability to give and receive guidance and direction
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, S3D and Civil 3D
  • Complete understanding of proper drawing organization and production
  • Working knowledge of industry design and drafting best practices
  • High level of awareness and commitment to safety in all aspects of daily work
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative
  • Possesses integrity, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and is dependable and accountable for results
  • Adaptable and flexible to the changing needs of projects
  • Team player that works well with supervisors, subordinates, peers, and clients
  • Technically competent in own discipline, pursues continuous professional development of skills and knowledge according to standards
  • Professional level of knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation
  • Multi-discipline knowledge, knowledge of advanced principles and techniques of engineering as well as quality management standards and practices required
