Position Overview:

We're seeking an experienced Engineering Design Lead to spearhead our Design team. The ideal candidate will manage the entire design process, from conception to implementation, ensuring compliance with client specifications and regulatory standards. This role demands a strategic thinker with a strong background in treatment systems and process engineering, capable of delivering high-quality designs while championing innovation, sustainability, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Project Management

  • Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, fostering their development from graduate to senior levels.
  • Oversee design and build projects throughout the UK, managing resources, timelines, and budgets effectively.
  • Conduct and lead design reviews, ensuring alignment with client specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Support project governance at all stages, with a focus on process and solutions perspectives.
  • Identify and resolve potential delays, reporting early interventions to maintain delivery timescales.

Technical Excellence and Innovation

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality process calculations, designs, and specifications for treatment equipment.
  • Review and approve designs from team members and other engineers.
  • Champion innovation in process design, promoting best practices across disciplines.
  • Contribute to standardization efforts and improvement initiatives across the business unit.
  • Provide technical input on services, products, and subcontractor selection when required.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Implement and maintain robust quality assurance processes throughout design and construction phases.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality, Environmental, and Health & Safety procedures at all times.
  • Lead efforts in Carbon Calculation and reporting, driving sustainability in design and delivery.
  • Identify and resolve non-conformances promptly in both design and construction phases.
  • Verify that final deliverables meet customer requirements and specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical/Process Engineering; Master's degree advantageous.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in engineering design, focusing on treatment systems and process engineering.
  • Proven track record in leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and mentoring staff.
  • Strong background in both industrial and municipal water treatment environments.
  • Excellent project management skills with experience in client relationship management.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards, quality assurance processes, and health & safety regulations in the engineering field.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and sustainability initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
