Job Description

This role will report directly to the VP for Architecture, Cloud and Engineering Enablement for GRS. The person will be responsible for implementing Engineering excellence and scale it for the greater organization.

Manages a portfolio of digital products & teams of significant value (providing fundamental change to our technology or business direction). Must have a natural passion for engineering excellence. Sets department direction, creates motivating work environment for team(s) and motivates staff to achieve direction.

Understands tools, architecture, security and scalability needs for assigned team(s). Maintains breadth and depth of perspective, utilizing enterprise and industry/market trends. Manages total cost of ownership, advocates for the removal of technical debt, assists and supports team effectiveness. Champions and effectively utilizes agile methodology and practices.

About the Role:

Implement strategies, create roadmap & drive for true Engineering Excellence
Application design as Engineering excellence - Well architected, 12 factor apps etc.
Implement security and resiliency as engineering excellence - OWASP, automated resiliency etc.
KPIs and Metrics - define and implement to measure Engineering excellence
Work with Enterprise architects to create blueprint for architecture in Agile
Drive software Product lifecycle
Build rollout strategy of engineering excellence across organization
Make Innovation a practice
Drive learning and development strategy for Engineering Excellence
In partnership with other Directors, Product Owners and Engineering Managers, develops the technology vision, strategies, critical success factors and operating plans for application, unit or platform.
Anticipates and manages technology evolution and relates it to business solutions.
Leads or is involved in efforts to evaluate, select and implement new technologies to enhance application or platform.
Determines and manages resource strategy and plan (FTE, skills needed, depth of experience, internal and external staffing mix) consistent with the budget and needs of the department.
Drives engineering teams for engineering excellence, focusing on quality and speed to market
Ensures there is a target architectural direction and pulls together proper resources to define if no clear direction exists.
Supports managers in addressing or escalating issues to make the overall team more efficient.
Removes roadblocks and obstacles; manages interdependencies when needed.
Strong technical background focused on application design, security & quality
Experienced in developing large scale business applications
Experience in software product management will be a big advantage
Experience of defining and rolling out Technology strategy
Passion for innovation and creating high performing engineering teams
Highly data driven in leadership, engineering and delivery
Focus on innovation & speed. Stays on top of industry development
Coaches and counsels team members, especially managers regarding leadership techniques in an agile environment.
Engineering background and passion will be highly preferred
Deep knowledge of technology concepts, strategies and methodologies
Bachelors or Masters Degree in technical discipline
More than 10 years' experience in a practice relevant domain including delivering software solutions in an agile environment.
5 years in a leadership role preferred.
In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies and methodologies and their application to business opportunities.
Ability to promote a team environment consisting of several teams.
Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills demonstrated through effective interactions with cross-functional stakeholders
