The Lead Release Engineer is responsible for leading release management governance and process adherence. The Lead Release Engineer will focus on the details of assembling the software and streamlining the process. In addition, the role coordinates across various stakeholders and teams to ensure that governance is satisfied.

Your Role:

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of software delivery lifecycle across release trains and teams.
  • Define and communicate the release management governance process, including checklists and deployment plans.
  • Proactively communicate release plans, status, and changes to all stakeholders and teams.
  • Understands and reviews cross dependencies which may pose a risk to the product or other downstream products.
  • Conducts "Go / No Go" meetings prior to release to understand release readiness.
  • Measure and monitor release progress, alerts, synthetics, test results and quality metrics to determine release readiness, overall release health, and risk areas.
  • Actively monitors and reports preproduction and production issues.
  • Coordinate or run production validation tests to ensure the release works properly after deployment.
  • Trigger re-testing activities when needed.
  • Drive process and release quality improvements and efficiencies.
  • Work closely with production engineering and SRE team to improve the overall release process and delivery times.
  • Develop automation or scripts to assist with the release process.
  • Hold teams accountable for release issues and expediating solutions.

Minimum Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of industry-related professional experience and education
  • 10 years+ working experience in software development
  • Working experience with AWS
  • Working knowledge of delivering products in engineering, operations, or release role
  • Working knowledge of development lifecycle methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile, iterative)
  • Working knowledge in analysis, design, and programming
