HSB Technical Power & Propulsion team have a number of vacancies for multiple businesses covering the UK and overseas.

This particular client we are recruiting for are looking for a Design Engineer. Working as the Design Engineer you will be creating cost effective designs using CAD to a high standard and ensuring the product is ready on time. The ideal person for this role would have experience with using solid works and have an automotive back ground.

HSB Technical s client base is global our clients are well established and well-regarded within the Power & Propulsion sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce innovative mechanical designs centred on functionality, simplicity and economy
  • Have a good base understanding of mechanical and automotive engineering and related design to develop suitable designs
  • Design and create models and drawings using 3D CAD software to set times
  • Able to use Solidworks
  • Design components to include sheet metal, turned / machined, cast items, small and large fabrications, including manufacturing and through life support considerations
  • Maintain accurate design records and maintain drawing issue control.
  • Use the PDM system to store and issue drawings.
  • Revise or amend existing designs and drawings to meet new requirements
  • Work with Senior Engineers to ensure best outcomes
  • Liaise with suppliers
  • Assess prototypes for correct fit and function.
  • Undertake appropriate material selection to fulfil the component specification

Qualifications / Other Points:

  • Minimum of HNC qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or related discipline (Essential)
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (Essential)
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree (Desirable)
  • Experience of working in an engineering design role (Desirable)
  • Experience of working in a workshop, manufacturing or production environment (Desirable)
