Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the design and development of water and wastewater projects, from conception through to construction phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team on projects focusing primarily on water & wastewater M&E capital and growth projects
  • Support Project Managers with knowledge to complete design and project engineering deliverables
  • Attend and contribute to internal and external design review and progress meetings
  • Participate in design coordination with other engineering disciplines and professionals
  • Perform engineering calculations, including pump sizing and hydraulic calculations
  • Create engineering drawings, including process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation drawings, and equipment/system layout drawings
  • Review specifications and designs against industry standards and specifications
  • Produce engineering reports and feasibility studies
  • Develop risk assessments and method statements
  • Engage in continual professional development, including pursuing professional registration (actively supported by the company)

Qualifications and Skills

  • Preferably a Mechanical Degree / HND / HNC or equivalent in engineering or related discipline
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience in design development for clean / wastewater non-infrastructure is desirable
  • Previous utility industry knowledge and experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with CAD software for creating technical drawings
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment processes and equipment
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
