Job Title - Metrology Engineer Location: Latrobe, PA Job Description - Requirements Minimum of Bachelor degree with 3 years or graduate degree with 1-3 years of analytical experience in Metrology, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Applied Statistics, or related field is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment with a diverse group of engineers, scientists, and manufacturing personnel. Effective verbal/written communication and time management and prioritization skills are also required. Preferred skills/experience include practical experience with tactile and optical metrology equipment and knowledge of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Experience with measurement systems and automation and instrumentation design and maintenance is desired. Statistical analysis, project management skills, and experience with 3D modeling and/or CAD/CAM software are also desired. Applicants should possess a desire to join an extended team of scientists and engineers in a growth-oriented environment. Job Description - Tasks Serve as a technical resource for metrology functions with responsibility for the supervision of metrology lab technicians, prioritization of workload, and daily operation of instrumentation (optical/tactile coordinate measurement machines, profilometers, 3D scanners, etc.). Support product development, process development, intellectual property, EHS, quality, and manufacturing through the identification and design of appropriate analyses for characterization of a wide variety of product platforms. Lead, implement and sustain local/global system improvements, including measurement system analyses to improve accuracy and precision. Research, evaluate and develop new gauging technologies. Knowledge sharing of standardized procedures across all corporate locations. Support internal equipment and method transfers. Assist in vendor selection, prepare functional specifications, and train personnel in research and manufacturing laboratories. Lead teams to resolution in the systematic use of data-driven analysis, decision making, and validation. Author and maintain internal procedures and work instructions. Must be able to lift and position moderate-weight equipment. Travel up to 25%, depending on project activity.
