Job Description

Two new permanent positions have been created to compliment the expansion plans for this leading supplier to the Industrial Automation market. This business is investing heavily into a new purpose built facility in the Warwickshire area and are now looking to appoint experienced Systems Applications Engineers.

Purpose of Role:

To support internal/external customers and specialist partners with intimate product knowledge of the automation, interface and IOT based product portfolio. The Systems Application Engineer will provide a centre of excellence for all products (especially automation) and support the area sales team, key automation partners and segment teams to provide technical based support with Projects and throughout the customer life cycle.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Assist external customers and business development teams with technical enquiries.
  • Assist the business development teams with updates on new products.
  • In collaboration with Projects, Business Development and Marketing teams produce robust and effective training material.
  • Build solution-based applications for all customer types.
  • Provide technical and product support for customers with a particular focus on Factory Automation, IOT, cloud-based services, Building Automation and Process Automation.
  • Maintain a robust catalogue of competitor intelligence with a particular reference to new and innovative products entering the marketplace.
  • Attend customer meetings with area sales managers to demo the automation offer and support clients when required.
  • When required visit customers to resolve hardware or upgrade issues.
  • Support where required the wider marketing and sales teams with exhibitions.
  • Train production operatives how to test assemblies of I/O and electronics.
  • Assist the production teams with technical support for custom assemblies.
  • Ad Hoc projects in support of the wider business.

Person and Skills Required:

  • Several years' experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of working in the building or electrical automation industry.
  • Experience of automation network protocols e.g. BACnet, KNX, DALI, Profibus, Profinet and Modbus.
  • PLC Programming, i.e. IEC 61131-3.
  • Strong IT knowledge (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Solutions orientated with ability to analyse, creatively problem solve and follow through.
