Job Description

A major PLC is looking for a Transport Manager in Birmingham! Reporting to the General Manager, you will take responsibility for 18 Drivers (static routes) and a Transport Supervisor. Working hours are Monday-Friday (day shift). Their customers range from huge multi-national household names to independently owned family businesses. As Transport Manager, your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing efficient routes to ensure timely delivery while minimising costs
  • Overseeing the maintenance, operation, and management of the vehicle fleet
  • Ensuring all activities comply with local, national, and international regulations
  • Implementing and monitoring safety protocols to protect drivers, vehicles, cargo, and the public
  • Controlling costs and managing budgets related to transportation activities
  • Hiring, training, and supervising transportation personnel, including drivers and administrative staff
  • Addressing customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring high levels of service quality.
  • Utilising transportation management systems (TMS) and other technologies to optimise operations

  • A previous track record managing a similar size team
